Day 6

Cozumel

  • Diving in the Barrier Reef of the Caribbean Sea (highly recommended for those who like to dive).
  • If you prefer not to dive, we could also recommend a boat trip through the Caribbean Sea or enjoy a relaxing day and snorkeling at Playa el Cielo, where you can see a multitude of starfish. To go to this beach you should rent a motorcycle or a car, since public transportation is complex on the island.
  • Visit the Explanada de la Bandera and Parque Benito Juárez, one next to the other, where you can also appreciate a spectacular sunset.

Day 7

Cozumel / Merida

  • Take the first ferry of the day to Playa del Carmen and take the first bus from Playa del Carmen to Mérida (4 hours), to arrive before noon.
  • In Mérida you can enjoy a lot of Mexican cuisine. We recommend 'La Negrita Cantina', where you will eat very well and also enjoy live music. Of course, go early because there are many people.
  • Get lost and enjoy the colorful streets of Mérida, without a doubt one of the best things about this city.
  • Visit the Monument to the Homeland, the Paseo de Montejo and the *Plaza Grande, where you will find the Cathedral Chapel of San José, the Town Hall or the Casa Montejo Museum.
  • Take a Free Tour at sunset.
  • *It is in this square where the Free Tours usually begin, which, without a doubt, are 100% recommended.
  • Stroll through the city center at dusk. The area around the Music Palace is highly recommended. Likewise, on the tour they can give you recommendations depending on what you want to do.

Day 8

Mérida (Progreso) / Chiapas

  • Take a regular bus to Progreso early in the morning (45-60 min).
  • Visit the 'El Corchito' Natural Reserve. Here you can see raccoons, crocodiles, and enjoy the most Mexican nature, in addition to bathing in natural pools.
  • Bus back to Mérida at noon.
  • Take a plane in the afternoon to Tuxtla Gutiérrez (Chiapas).
  • Bus from Tuxtla airport to San Cristóbal de las Casas, where you establish your base.

Day 9

San Cristóbal de las Casas and San Juan Chamula

  • Excursion to San Juan Chamula. Highly recommended, without a doubt a very unique place where you can witness an authentic Shaman doing 'cleansing' in the purest traditional style.
  • If you visit San Juan, they recommend that you hire a private excursion. It is a very peculiar place and you may encounter problems if you do not know how the town works.
  • On this excursion you will also visit other places with artisanal customs such as Zinacantán.
  • In San Cristóbal, go eat at Taquería Charrito . Without a doubt, you cannot miss a visit to this site. The best tacos of the entire trip by far, and at a very low price. This taqueria was even recommended by a top chef like David Muñoz in 2022!
  • Get lost in the town in the afternoon. San Cristóbal has a special magic that welcomes you. Without a doubt one of the best things about the trip to Mexico.
  • Places to visit: Santa Lucía area, Church of San Cristóbal, Plaza de la Paz, Andador Real de Guadalupe.
  • Go to dinner and enjoy a traditional music and dance show at Las Pichanchas Restaurant .

Day 10

  • This excursion will take you all day and part of the night.

Day 12

San Cristóbal de las Casas / Cancun

  • Walk through San Cristóbal de las Casas in the morning. Visit the Church of Santa Lucía, Mercado de San Cristóbal and enter the different shops and galleries of the many local artists to appreciate their works, many located in the Andador Real de Guadalupe.
  • Bus to Tuxtla Gutiérrez airport and flight to Cancún in the afternoon.
  • Walk through the center of Cancun* at night.
  • *Honestly, Cancun was what we liked least about the trip but, due to the location and the activities scheduled for the remaining two days, it was the best place to 'base'.

Day 13

Chichen Itza

  • Excursion to Chichén Itzá, Cenote San Lorenzo Oxman and Valladolid.
  • Night arrival at the hotel.

Day 14

Women Island

  • Morning ferry from Cancun to Isla Mujeres.

  • Explore downtown Isla Mujeres in the afternoon and visit other beaches.
  • Ferry back to Cancun in the afternoon.

Day 15

Cancun - Spain

  • Flight back to Spain in the morning.

Final considerations

  • Adapt the duration of your stay in Playa del Carmen according to your preferences. If you don't like diving, a couple of days in Playa del Carmen is enough. You can go to Tulum for a couple of days, or to the island of Hollbox.
  • Get a SIM card when you arrive in Mexico for added convenience. You can buy it at the airport or in any supermarket.
  • Use a bank card like Revolut to save on foreign currency. Likewise, it is important that you withdraw money in cash since some places do not allow you to pay by card.
  • Very important! Use bottled water for both drinking and brushing your teeth in Chiapas. Tap water is contaminated and you can easily get sick.
  • Don't hesitate to ask locals for help and recommendations. In Mexico they are very friendly and will help you in everything they can without asking for anything in return.
  • Explore delicious Mexican cuisine and ask locals to discover the best places!
